Tracy Pleva Hill

Tracy quietly passed at 5:10 this morning with her family at her bedside. She was surrounded by love.

You put up one hell of a fight my love but it’s finally time to rest. I’ll forever be inspired by your strength and courage.

Jason, Jeff and Family. My deepest regrets go out to you. Tracy has been an inspirtation to my for a very long time. She lived, fought, touched and inspired so many people along the way. She is in a better place where she will continue to inspire those that she has touched. Those who knew her are better in life because of the mere fact of who she was and what she stood for.

With love.

Good bye, Tracy. You put up one helluva fight and everything you did--and wrote--inspired me. I wish your writing talents could have gone on forever and you didn't have to spend the last 9 years fighting cancer. Who you are--and how you approached life-- will live on forever as part of us. You will always be in my mind on that motorcycle, driving across Scotland, and having the time of your life.

My deepest love and sympathies to you, Jeff, and to Jason, and to all of your family. This must be incredibly hard on you. You are in my thoughts and prayers.

Dear Jeff, Jason and Family,

I found this website through, which I found through Peter Shankman's Twitter. I've never met you guys, but I want you to know that this complete stranger is saying a few prayers for your comfort and Tracy's peace today. Your wife/mother/friend sounds like a truly incredible, inspiring person, and I'm so sorry for your loss. They're paltry words, but I wanted to tell you that people you've never met are thinking about Tracy and sending you love.

I am at a loss for words. Tracy was and will always be an awesome individual. I wish I could have known her for a lot longer, but even in the short time that we knew her, we all could tell how wonderful she was. She was always happy, positive and humorous. We absolutely loved her personality. She also has you, Jeff and Jason and the rest of your family that is so beautiful. We are simply honored to have known Tracy and all of you. It was truly a blessing to have known Tracy. She will live on forever in all of us.

Jason - I lost my Dad too. Although I was much older than you, it still hurts and I miss him and think of him everyday. But please know that your Mom is with you. I do feel my Dad with me everyday. I know he is here with me and never left me. Jason - your Mom is with you too and will never leave you.

You are all in our hearts, thoughts and prayers. We are here for you. Please let us know how else we can be there for you.

Jeff, I'm keeping you, Jason and all your family in my thoughts and prayers. Tracy was truly special and I'll always treasure the time we spent together. Riding with her in 2007 was a pleasure.

Celebrating her birthday with her at the Hard Rock Cafe in Edinburgh was one of the highlights of the ride.

I'll always remember the joy of your reunion at the HD headquarters in Oxford. There wasn't a dry eye in the car park as you gathered her up into your arms.

I'll also remember the funny times - such as the meeting with the Dunedin Chapter at a car park on the way to Aviemore. Tracy's bike had been sent back to the dealers for repair and she was in the van. A photo opportunity arose and Tracy (who took some spectacular photos on the ride) in her rush to get out of the van kinda forgot to put her legs out first and landed unceremoniously on the tarmac! Thankfully, she didn't seem to hurt herself..

We'll all miss Tracy - she was truly a very special and inspirational girl. You're right to be very proud of her.

I woke this morning at 4:47 with Tracy in my thoughts. Ironic. I had been trying to get in touch with her over the past few months. I heard the sad news when I called her office again and now know why I hadn't heard back from her. I am devastated, and so, so sorry.

Tracy was the most inspirational, fun loving, optimistic and caring person I have met in my lifetime. If there was one word to describe Tracy it would be "smile" - pleased and kind, always amused, affectionate, joyful, fun-loving, mischievous, and yes, dare-devil!

Tracy, you put up a hell of a fight girl and inspired us all in the process. You have made a forever place in the hearts of many, I know you have in mine.

Funny, courageous, optimistic, gracious, tireless, driven, and inspiring are just a few words that come to mind when thinking of Tracy.

Please accept my deepest condolences for your loss.

I think the measure of a person's life should be by the amount of people they touch. On a scale of 1-100, Tracy rates 100+! Her energy, determination, passion and joy for life has inspired more people that can be counted. We are all blessed to have been a part of her life. Although she is no longer here with us in the physical, her fingerprints will remain on our lives forever. I am 100% positive that there is a YSC affiliate in heaven and I know Tracy has already attended her first meeting and is coming up with ways to continue her work in Heaven.

Megan and I read the news about Tracey just before we headed out on a road trip this weekend to check out part of the route for our Australian ride this year. It was tough day in the car – every time a song came on the radio that reminded us of Tracey or our UK ride, the tears would start to flow.

Then later in the afternoon the coolest thing happened. The day had been sunny, with the occasional high streak of cloud, but as we drove through open fields and farmland that reminded us so much of the UK ride, we saw the strangest cloud – a big puffy cumulus cloud, near a mountain, and there was the most incredible rainbow all the way across it’s base – as wide as the mountain itself. I’ve never seen a rainbow like it, and as soon as I saw it Tracey popped into my head and all I could feel was peace and happiness. We’re sure she sent it to let us know she’s ok.

Damned if the cloud didn’t follow us around the rest of the day. By the end of the afternoon it had gotten bigger, and whiter, and fluffier and glowed with the setting sun. We decided the big white fluffy bits were definitely the foam on the top of Dee and Sal’s lager, and the pink tinge around the side was Tracey’s glass of red. The girls are in good company and having a good time we are sure.

Today was still hard but we have so many wonderful memories of Tracey on that ride. Tracey, Dee and Sal dancing on chairs at the Hard Rock CafĂ© in Edinburgh for Tracey’s 40th Birthday. Any number of dinners and lunches together on the ride. Sitting on the hillside at the car park in Hawes. I remember early on the ride after Tracey’s bike broke, she rode for a few days as pillion with me. On the back of my helmet is written “Andrew and Patrick. It’s a Beautiful Day.” Tracey asked me who they were since, in her own words, “I’m riding back here with them.” I told her they were my brother and Megan’s brother who both passed away young. I know from now on Tracey’s there with them and its getting crowded back there.

Jeff – our thoughts and love are with you and Jason and the rest of your family. Tracey was an extraordinary woman. I believe you never really lose those you love – their spirit is always there with you, and right now Tracey is light and free and as vibrant a soul as she always was, and she will be there dancing on Jason’s wedding day.

I am so sorry for your tremendous loss. I ran XC and track with Tracy at Somers High School. I was a freshman her Jr. year and I looked up to her. She was beautiful inside and out. She was a great team captain her senior year, leading us in chants (I don't know but I've been told, Somers Cross Country is made of Gold and many others!)as we had to run up and down a hill in Reiss park for an hour. I loved that practice...I think I still remember it after all these years because of the strong team unity she created that day that lasted through the season. I will never forget Tracy Pleva-Hill. I will keep you all in my thoughts and prayers.

Love, Marilee Broadway, N.C.

Jeff and Jason,

My thoughts and prayers are with you to be strong and get through this tough time. I -- like others -- was truly touched by Tracy in the short time I knew her at EPB. I can still hear her voice "what's up girlie." God rest her beautiful soul.

Jeff,Jason,Katie,Liza,Joyce,Ted, and Jamie,

I am so sorry for your loss. I remember Tracy when she was real young. I remember her bossing Katie and I around. I remember her playing teacher. (once) hehe. I remember her loving Asia when she was say first year High School. I was in New York for a week and remember Tracy watching me for a little while. I was even scared of Tracy at times. lol.

I remember how much she loved all of you. How close you all were....
I have a video tape that I will send you from the good old days!! Tracy is dancing in them.

I love you Tracy. I pray for you. I hope you are visiting with my sister and Father. It was too soon for you...but we will see you again!!! :)

You are all in my thoughts and prayers.
Love, Stacey Reuland Bagan
